One of Australia’s largest retail brands, Cotton On has chosen Thames Technology to produce and distribute its gift cards globally using environmentally friendly paperboard.

Thames Technology’s proven environmental credentials ensured that the gift card manufacturer stood out with its superior sustainable paperboard offering providing the premium look and feel the client was looking for while being 100% biodegradable.

Steve Andrinos, APAC Regional General Manager at Thames Technology’s parent company, Paragon ID, commented:

“We are delighted to have been selected by one of the largest retailers in Australia to produce and supply gift cards using our sustainable card material. We look forward to working closely with the Cotton On team to start the process of producing and distributing the gift cards to the various stores globally. We recognise a growing trend in the use of ‘green’ materials and Thames Technology with its proven and certified environmental credentials is an industry leader in reducing their carbon footprint.”

Cotton On is one of the first Australian retailers to move their entire gift card range to be made from sustainable paperboard, fully replacing traditional PVC card materials, and reducing its impact on the environment.

All paperboard used to produce the new gift cards will be responsibly manufactured by one of the world's most environmentally friendly papermills, which plants more trees in its forests than it fells. It is certified to ISO14001 environmental management standards and powered by bio energy so that no fossil fuels are used in the making of the premium paperboard.

With over 1,500 stores in 18 countries worldwide, Cotton On is one of Australia’s largest global brands. The worldwide deal will see Thames Technology distributing gift cards to their stores across several continents to many different countries including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, USA, South Africa, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brazil, Namibia, and Botswana.
